Snakes are common in Barrier Canyon panels and seeing ones with horns and arms is not too unusual, but there is something (venom or blood?) dripping from the mouth of this one, which is rare. Note that the bird figure on the left seem to be flying but also appears to have feet. We know little about the culture that created this art, but shamanistic expression in the San Rock Art of Africa includes transformation of humans into animals, bleeding from the nose during trance states, and spiritual flight.
